The Power of Volunteers

  • Resettlement is isolating. Volunteers build relationships that help while refugees adjust.
  • Assisting with ESL, resume preparation, and mock interviews, equips Associates for success.
  • Assistance with tasks from pinning to filing helps keep us lean and efficient so more resources can be dedicated to programs.

Groups

Groups of school and corporate volunteers can chip in to make a big impact in a small amount of time. Most opportunities are Monday-Thursday 9am-3pm. Interested? Email info@vickerytrading.org for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • VTC Friends

    Support our mission, staff and Associates with various needs in the office and for Associates.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Shift days, times, lengths very depending on need. Usually 1-3 hrs long.
    • Provide basic assistance as needed (i.e. preparing mailers, event prep, etc.)

  • Sewing Buddy

    During a class led by a sewing instructor, partner one-on-one with an Associate to help her learn sewing vocabulary, machine parts, and skill basics. Sewing experience helpful but not necessary. Spring 2025 term February 10-April 17.

    Key Responsibilities

    • 2 hrs/ once per week Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs
    • 12:30-2:30pm
    • Help an Associate learn sewing basics & vocab

    • Extended Video Orientation
    • Background Check

  • Craft Club

    A time for refugee and American women to interact over the common bond of crafting. This Spring, we’ll focus on Embroidery! Bring your own project to work on and get ready to both share and learn embroidery tips from the others in attendance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • 2 hrs February 19, March 19, or April 9
    • 9:30-11:30am
    • Join local refugees in conversation while sharing embroidery tips & tricks

    Requirements

    • Approved Application
    • Video Orientation

  • Event Volunteer

    • One-time events such as fundraisers or graduation.
    • Tasks can include decorating, pick up/set out food and materials, set-up/clean-up events
    • Join email list to receive notifications of upcoming events with volunteer needs.

    Requirements

    • No application or orientation required
