The Power of Volunteers

  • Resettlement is isolating. Volunteers build relationships that help while refugees adjust.
  • Assisting with ESL, resume preparation, and mock interviews, equips Associates for success.
  • Assistance with tasks from pinning to filing helps keep us lean and efficient so more resources can be dedicated to programs.

Groups

Groups of school and corporate volunteers can chip in to make a big impact in a small amount of time. Most opportunities are Monday-Thursday 9am-3pm. Interested? Email info@vickerytrading.org for more information.

Areas of Volunteer Service

  • Conversation Partner

    • Partner one-on-one with an Associate to practice English conversation and reading.
    • This role is in person.
    • Summer 2024 Term will be June 3rd-July 29th.
    • One morning per week:
      Monday 8:30am – 9:30am or 9:30am-10:30am
    • Minimum commitment is one full term (Spring/Summer/Fall).

  • VTC Friend

    • Spend time with Associates as they work.
    • Production and administrative tasks available.
    • No sewing experience necessary.
    • Tues, 1-3 pm,
    • Wed 10 am-12 pm,
    • Thurs 10 am-12 pm and 1-3 pm

  • Event Volunteer

    • One-time events such as fundraisers or graduation.
    • Tasks can include decorating, pick up/set out food and materials, set-up/clean-up events, drive Associates to field trip site (such as Museum or Arboretum)
    • No volunteer orientation required.
    • Join email list to receive notifications of upcoming events with volunteer needs.

  • Turn in signed Volunteer Agreement.
  • Conversation Partner Volunteer Only: Attend 1 Volunteer Orientation
